Clearing Brush

When we bought our acre property, it was about a third wooded, with 60 – 75 foot tall trees lining either side of it. I love trees, but a fully shaded lot doesn’t make for good growing conditions. Some of them had to go. We got our friend Richard in who’s handy with a chain saw and he got to…

The Cowboy’s Designer Bride – First Draft Done!

Okay – that cover still says, The Cowboy’s Designing Bride instead of Designer Bride. The Critics didn’t like Designing. Originally, the novel was called The Cowboy’s Guide to Style and a writer acquaintance let me know today that she prefers that title to either of the others. Sigh. Luckily I have a few more weeks to nail it down. :)…

Getting Ready for the Garden

We’re planting a ton of vegetables this year at our new house, and my daughter and I decided to try something we saw on Pinterest. We’re painting rocks bright colors with Patio paint from the craft store, and will use permanent markers to write the names of the vegetable varieties on them and embellish them with designs. I love the…

The Cowboy’s E-Mail Order Bride Now Available on Smashwords

The Cowboy’s E-Mail Order Bride isn’t set to release until April 30th, but since dealing with Smashwords is new to me, I’ve managed to accidently release the epub version a full month early. Since I’ve already had some sales, I don’t feel like un-releasing it. I guess I’ll call it a sneak preview. I am working on uploading the document…

Happy Easter

We spent Easter morning at the Spotted Horse Nursery here in Terrace, BC, where Kathy Jackson and her family put on an amazing Easter egg hunt every year. Somehow the weather is always beautiful and today was no exception. It was cool when we arrived but warmed up during the morning and by afternoon we were in shorts. While we…

An Old-Fashioned Fashion Show

Yesterday was the annual fashion show to raise money for Heritage Park in Terrace, BC. A group of women, young and old, took to the catwalk to show off historical fashions from the museum's collection and from closets around town. We were served tea in china cups and offered scones and fruit. Very yummy and lots of fun to see…

My Hometown

Terrace, British Columbia is a town of about 10,000 people situated along the Skeena River in northwestern, B.C.  Surrounded by mountains, it is breathtakingly beautiful throughout the year, but I especially love the summer nights that stay light past 11 pm. I'd never heard of Terrace before I met my husband in California, and I never suspected I'd make my…

I’m Reading: Practical Jean, by Trevor Cole

The Terrace Public Library’s book club picked Practical Jean for this month’s read and I was one of the people who helped choose it. Here’s the blurb: Jean Vale Horemarsh is an ordinary, small-town woman with the usual challenges of middle age. She’s content, mostly, with the life she’s built: a semi-successful career as a ceramics artist, a close collection…

The Cowboy’s Email Order Bride Final Edit

I'm so excited to finish up The Cowboy's Email Order Bride and get it on sale. I'm aiming for an April 30th release date. I'll do a final run-through of the book over the next couple of days and then get it into audio production for the audio book version. I can't wait to hear how it all turns out!
