Getting Ready for the Garden

We’re planting a ton of vegetables this year at our new house, and my daughter and I decided to try something we saw on Pinterest. We’re painting rocks bright colors with Patio paint from the craft store, and will use permanent markers to write the names of the vegetable varieties on them and embellish them with designs.

I love the colors. Somehow I thought we had way more rocks, however. However, the day we went to collect rocks for the project, it was freezing on Ferry Island and we lasted for all of about five minutes. You can see the gray sky on our way there – that’s Copper Mountain/Thornhill Mountain in the background.

Ferry Island has walking trails and campgrounds, and is surrounded by the Skeena River. There are plenty of rocks.

Yeah – it was cold…(poor daughter)

We need to put a final coat of paint on them, and then we’ll get decorating!

Happy Easter

We spent Easter morning at the Spotted Horse Nursery here in Terrace, BC, where Kathy Jackson and her family put on an amazing Easter egg hunt every year. Somehow the weather is always beautiful and today was no exception. It was cool when we arrived but warmed up during the morning and by afternoon we were in shorts.

While we waited for the bell to ring to start the Easter egg hunt, I went and checked out the horses who were definitely waiting for treats of their own and checking out all the kids ready to run the minute the hunt officially started.

You can see the grounds in this picture. By the time the hunt began there were kids everywhere, tiny to big. I’m amazed every year how well behaved the kids are. No one touches an egg until it’s time, and I often see bigger kids being very sweet and helpful with the little ones. One funny thing the Jacksons do is fill a big wooden box with straw and hide eggs in the straw. There are holes cut all over the box so that kids can reach in and feel around until they find an egg. Long past when…

The Cowboy’s E-Mail Order Bride Now Available on Smashwords

The Cowboy’s E-Mail Order Bride isn’t set to release until April 30th, but since dealing with Smashwords is new to me, I’ve managed to accidently release the epub version a full month early. Since I’ve already had some sales, I don’t feel like un-releasing it. I guess I’ll call it a sneak preview.

I am working on uploading the document they use to make all the other formats of the book. The Kindle version is just about ready and I’m finishing up formatting for POD at CreateSpace this week.

My audio book version of The Cowboy’s E-Mail Order Bride is coming along nicely, as well and should be ready in plenty of time for the April 30th release date. I’m excited to offer the novel in so many different formats!
